Ciara Rabey, Brass Caption Head
Ciara teaches band and orchestra in Mount Laurel School District, and is a brass specialist for the award winning Cherokee High School marching band. She also works as a brass chamber ensemble coach and private lesson teacher.
During her undergraduate degree in Music Education, Ciara was principal horn for Messiah University’s Wind Ensemble and Orchestra. Ciara has performed as finalist in the Kuhlman Competition, shared the stage with Dr. Bradley Tatum on his guest artist recital, and was part of multiple ensembles selected to perform at the PMEA and NJMEA conventions. She can be heard on recording projects for Messiah’s Brass Cross, and premiered a horn solo by Dr. James Colonna.
Ciara graduated Magna Cum Laude from Messiah University’s Honors College. She has completed graduate work towards a Master’s Degree in Horn Performance at Temple University, and is starting a Master's in Music Education.
Nick Ruel, High Brass Technician
Nick is a Music Teacher/Teaching Assistant at the FOCUS Center for Autism’s Fresh Start School in Northern Connecticut. He previously served as an Assistant Director for the Windham Concert Band, and has taught marching band programs in Northern Connecticut and Southeastern Massachusetts.
Nick marched mellophone in DCI with 7th Regiment. As a classical performer, Nick has performed in the Danbury Symphony Orchestra as well as several chamber and large ensembles. While french horn is Nick’s main instrument, he also has collegiate experience playing jazz and classical trumpet.
Nick earned his B.S. in Music Education at Western Connecticut State University, and is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Composition at The Hartt School of Music.
David Weintraub, Low Brass Technician
David taught low brass at Brunswickham Music Studio, and instructed the state championship-winning Robbinsville Raven Regiment. He led the euphonium section for Fusion Core (DCA) prior to joining our staff here at Highland.
David studies euphonium performance under New York Staff Band’s Aaron Vanderweele, and holds the position of alternate euphonist for the Princeton Brass Band. He successfully auditioned into several select Rutgers and University of Rochester ensembles as an undergraduate. In addition to Fusion Core, David was a member of Rutgers Marching Scarlet Knights. David also has experience on trombone and tuba.
David is pursuing a Music Education degree from Rutgers University.
